Manas is the third largest city in Kyrgyzstan and the administrative center of Jalal-Abad Province in the south of the country. In September 2025 the city was officially renamed from Jalal-Abad to Manas, in honor of the hero of the national epic. The previous name will continue to appear in maps, guidebooks and reviews for some time — both names refer to the same city. Guest houses are the most common format in Manas and surrounding districts: home-cooked food, help with transfers, budget-friendly prices. Business travelers — Manas is a major administrative and trade hub in southern Kyrgyzstan. Transit travelers heading to Osh or further toward Uzbekistan and the Pamir Highway. Visitors heading to the regional hot springs (some of the most well-known in the country) or to Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve, about 200 km from the city.

Where to stay.

The city center — main infrastructure, cafes, shops, convenient without a car. Near the central market — budget options in an active commercial area. Along the main roads toward Osh and Bishkek — useful for transit stops if you're driving. Near the hot springs — small guest houses and lodges for visitors coming specifically for the therapeutic baths.

Payment and confirmation.

Pay by card or via QR — the dominant payment method in Kyrgyzstan. Some properties confirm instantly; others are confirmed manually by the host within a few hours, a normal practice in the regional market. After booking, you can chat with the host directly to arrange check-in, parking and transfers.
