5 questions to ask a host before booking

On Meiman you can message the host before booking, straight from the listing page. These five questions cover almost every reason guests end up disappointed at check-in.

1. What are the check-in and check-out times?

Ask from what hour you can arrive and by when you have to leave. Ask about early check-in and late check-out too — in apartments hosts are often flexible if the day is free.

2. What exactly is included?

Towels and linen, cleaning, breakfast, parking, sauna, barbecue — every property includes a different set. Ask about extra charges for an additional guest or a pet.

3. How do water, heating and internet work?

Heating matters for a winter trip, air conditioning for summer, Wi-Fi speed for a work trip. In privately run places on Issyk-Kul it is worth asking about hot water specifically.

4. How does check-in work?

Who meets you, where the keys are, which documents are needed and whether night arrival is possible. If the property is out of town, ask how to get there and whether a transfer is available.

5. Are these photos of my exact room?

In hotels and sanatoriums some photos are generic: the pool, the grounds, the best room. Ask for photos of the room or cabin you are actually booking.
