Booking resorts and sanatoriums at Issyk-Kul with Meiman

The pansionat, a Soviet-era resort complex, is the classic way to spend a summer at Issyk-Kul: a gated site with its own stretch of beach, a meal plan, pools and an activity programme. Meiman lists them on both shores — Cholpon-Ata, Bosteri, Sary-Oi and Kadzhi-Say.

How it differs from a hotel

Meals are normally part of the price — full board, half board or breakfast. The site holds accommodation blocks with rooms of different categories, a canteen or restaurant, an equipped beach, pools, a medical point and sometimes a banya and spa. An activity programme for children and adults, beach equipment rental and evening concerts are standard. If you do not need meals and entertainment, look at hotels or holiday resorts instead: cheaper and less crowded.

Where to stay

The northern shore — Cholpon-Ata, Bosteri, Sary-Oi, Tamchy: the developed side, about four hours from Bishkek, with water parks and concert venues. Cholpon-Ata is the largest resort town and the easy choice for a first visit; Bosteri is next door and usually cheaper. The southern shore — Kadzhi-Say, Tamga, Bokonbaevo: quieter, cleaner water, fewer people and fewer sanatoriums.

Who books them

Families with children — three meals a day, pools, a safe beach, no cooking to think about. Company trips — conference rooms, banquet halls, a banya. Large groups — simpler than renting several apartments in different places. And anyone who wants a holiday where everything is decided in advance.

Season and booking

The season runs from June to September and peaks in July and August, when places go one to two months ahead and earlier for weekends and public holidays. May and September are cheaper and quieter, though the water is cool and part of the infrastructure runs at reduced capacity. From October to April most are closed. Some confirm a booking right away, others confirm once the front desk has checked the dates. Once it is confirmed, you pay a deposit via QR or by card: Meiman holds it until you check in and only then passes it to the property; the rest is paid on arrival.
