Kadzhi-Say is a village on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, the side people choose for a quiet stay away from the crowds of the northern strip. The beaches are sandy, the water warms a little later, and prices are noticeably lower than in Cholpon-Ata or Bosteri. The supply matches: whole houses, guest houses and holiday bases rather than large hotels.

What is nearby

A few kilometres away is Skazka — the «fairytale» canyon with red rock formations, one of the most photographed spots on the lake. Further along the shore are Ton and Tosor; in the other direction, Barskoon and Jeti-Oguz with their gorges and waterfalls. The road to Song-Kul turns off near Bokonbaevo, so Kadzhi-Say often works as a stop on a longer route.

What people book

Usually a whole house for a family or a group, with a yard and a barbecue. Guest houses cost less and normally include breakfast. Holiday bases are the Soviet-era format — small cabins on shared grounds by the water — worth it if you want an organised beach right there.

What to check before booking

How far it is to the water and whether the beach is public or belongs to the property. Whether there is hot water and heating outside the season: irrelevant in July, useful in May and September. And how you will get there — public transport is sparse, most people drive or take a taxi from Balykchy.
