Karakol is the one place on Issyk-Kul where houses are rented all year round. In summer people come for trekking in the Terskey Ala-Too, Altyn-Arashan and Jeti-Oguz; in winter, for the ski base. For a group a house beats several hotel rooms: a shared kitchen, space for gear and an early start on the trail.

What people book here

Usually houses for 6–12 people with a kitchen, a sauna and a yard for cars. In winter what matters is the heating and whether the driveway is cleared; in summer, how quickly you can get out to the gorges and where to dry your gear.

Seasons

The peak is July and August, together with the rest of the Issyk-Kul shore, plus the New Year holidays and the ski season. May and October are the cheapest weeks, and the mountain weather is usually settled.

What to check before booking

How many beds there are, not rooms; how the house is heated; whether the sauna works in winter; whether early check-in is possible after a night drive; whether a deposit is required. Ask the host in the chat before paying.

Booking and payment

You book directly with the host, with no agency fees. Some houses are confirmed straight away, others once the host has checked the dates. Meiman holds your prepayment until you check in and passes it to the host only afterwards; the rest you pay on arrival. You can pay by card or by QR.
