Guest houses in Bishkek

Guest houses in Bishkek

In the capital a guest house is less a travellers' format than the cheapest way to stay for a while: rooms in a family house, a shared kitchen, the host on site. Prices start well below hotel rates, so these places are mostly taken by people from the regions, by those in town for medical treatment or study, and by travellers at the start of a long trip.

Who it suits

Anyone staying a week or more: what a few hotel nights cost covers the whole trip here. Families who care more about a kitchen than about service. And foreign travellers on their first stop — some houses speak English and help arrange transport onwards.

What to check before booking

Private or shared bathroom; whether breakfast is included and whether you can cook; how many people share the house at once; whether there is parking. Ask about getting around too: guest houses are usually in residential blocks rather than the centre, and the bus stop may not be close.

If another format fits better

An apartment gives you a private entrance and your own kitchen, a hotel gives housekeeping, breakfast and an invoice, and a hostel is cheapest of all if you travel alone and do not need a private room.

Booking and payment

You book directly with the host, with no agency fees. Some houses are confirmed straight away, others once the host has checked the dates. Meiman holds your prepayment until you check in and passes it to the host only afterwards; the rest you pay on arrival. You can pay by card or by QR.
