Cottages and holiday homes in Kyrgyzstan

Cottages and holiday homes in Kyrgyzstan

A cottage is what people take when they travel as a family or a group: a house of your own, a yard, a barbecue and parking — something a hotel room does not replace. Meiman lists houses, cottages and townhouses, from small two-room places to houses that sleep a dozen.

Where to look

Most of the supply is around Issyk-Kul: Bosteri, Cholpon-Ata, Chok-Tal, Sary-Oy and Kara-Oy — the beach strip of the northern shore. In Karakol houses are rented all year: trekking in the Terskey Ala-Too in summer, the ski base in winter. In and around Bishkek a cottage is usually a weekend, birthday or company-retreat booking.

What to check before booking

How many sleeping places there are, not just rooms; whether there is a barbecue, a sauna or a pool; how the house is heated in winter; how far it is to the water; whether a deposit is required and whether pets are allowed. Ask the host in the chat before you pay.

When to book

On Issyk-Kul in July and August houses go two to four weeks ahead, and earlier for weekends and holidays. Outside those months the northern shore is noticeably cheaper and emptier, and in winter demand shifts to Karakol and the hills around Bishkek.

Booking and payment

You book directly with the host, with no agency fees. Some houses are confirmed straight away, others once the host has checked the dates. Meiman holds your prepayment until you check in and passes it to the host only afterwards; the rest you pay on arrival. You can pay by card or by QR.
