Hostels in Osh

Hostels in Osh

Osh is the last large stop before the Pamir Highway and the closest city to the Uzbek border crossing. Hostels here are not only a cheap bed: this is where people heading further meet — looking for others to share a car to Sary-Tash and Murghab, checking road conditions and permits, passing on driver contacts.

Where to look

The centre is walkable: Sulaiman-Too, the bazaar and the cafés are close, and transport leaves from there. Areas nearer the bus station and the shared-taxi stands help if you set off early for Batken, Sary-Tash or the border — it saves half an hour of getting organised.

What to expect

Dorms usually sleep four to eight, some places have a female-only room and a private double. Kitchen and showers are shared, and luggage storage is nearly universal — leave the backpack while you climb Sulaiman-Too. Many hostels arrange a transfer to the border and know where to find a car going up the Pamir.

When to choose something else

Travelling as a pair or needing a private bathroom, compare an apartment or a hotel: split between two people the gap with two dorm beds almost disappears.

Booking and payment

You book directly with the host, with no agency fees. Some hostels are confirmed straight away, others once the host has checked the dates. Meiman holds your prepayment until you check in and passes it to the host only afterwards; the rest you pay on arrival. You can pay by card or by QR.
