Sary-Oy is a village between Cholpon-Ata and Chok-Tal, on the calm stretch of the northern shore. It has 51 places to stay, and the mix is unusual for a village: apartments come first with 22, mostly in resort complexes by the water, followed by 19 houses and cottages. The median rate is about 14,000 som a night — the highest among the neighbouring villages, because what is let here is mostly whole houses and apartments.

What people book

Apartments in the complexes — with a kitchen of your own, a gated site and a shared beach; a good fit for a family that wants neither a sanatorium nor a large house. Houses with a yard and a barbecue are taken by groups. There are also four guest houses, townhouses and a couple of holiday sites.

What is nearby

It is about 10 kilometres to Cholpon-Ata with its promenade and market, and a little further to the water park in Bosteri. Chok-Tal is the next village, a couple of kilometres away. Bishkek is about three and a half hours by car.

What to check before booking

For an apartment in a complex — whether it has its own beach and whether that is included, whether the pool runs on your dates, and whether parking is charged separately. For a house — how many beds there are, whether there is a barbecue and a gazebo, and how it is heated out of season.

Booking and payment

You book directly with the host, with no agency fees. Some places are confirmed straight away, others once the host has checked the dates.
