Bishkek is the capital of Kyrgyzstan and usually the first stop for travellers arriving in the country. The city is compact, and the drive from Manas Airport to the centre takes 30–40 minutes. Meiman lists over 560 places across the city: hotels in the centre, short-term apartments in residential districts, hostels and guest houses on the outskirts.
Hotels are the usual pick for business trips and short visits — close to Ala-Too Square, Chuy Avenue and the ministries. Short-term apartments are the largest group in the city, more than 420 of them: private kitchen, washing machine, flexible check-in, good for families and longer stays. Hostels and guest houses are the budget end, often with breakfast and help with transfers. Cottages and houses are rented for birthdays, company parties or visiting relatives.
The centre (Ala-Too, Chuy, Erkindik) — restaurants, museums and walking distance to the main sights. The Osh Bazaar area — closer to the marshrutkas heading for Issyk-Kul and Osh. Jal and the southern districts — quieter and cheaper, convenient if you have a car. Near Manas Airport — useful for early flights and short layovers.
Bishkek is busy all year: business trips, layovers through Manas, medical visits, conferences. The peaks are the New Year holidays and long public holiday weekends, when the centre is taken well in advance. In summer part of the demand moves to Issyk-Kul and the city gets easier.
QR is the most common payment method in Bishkek; cards are accepted too. Some properties confirm a booking right away, others are confirmed by the host after checking the dates. Once it is confirmed, you pay a deposit: Meiman holds it until you check in and only then passes it to the host; the rest is paid on arrival. Check-in, parking and transfers are arranged in the chat with the host right after booking.
